As mentioned in the comments above there is a lot of documentation covering this. There are many ways to connect to a database and retrieve information such as Linq2Sql and NHibernate. I've done it with the basic SqlConnection classes. Personally I feel it's important to understand these concepts first.

You will need to determine the correct ConnectionString (try www.connectionstrings.com) and UserID yourself. Note if you're expecting more than a single row returned (I'm assuming ID is the Primary Key here) you'll need to use a SqlDataReader with the cmd.ExecuteReader function.
Notice also I'm using string.Equals() rather than connType == "Imap", this is to allow me to specify case insensitivity.
