Remote Freelance Ruby Backend Developer

Olery (Amsterdam) is seeking a passionate, Ruby enthusiast, who can help develop core technology and infrastructure of the Olery applications.

The position is for 2-3 days/week with the option for extension to full-time.

Your primary responsibility will be Ruby backend development.

This will involve

• Tackling a wide variety of coding problems throughout the stack – we all work on everything
• Learning to understand our complex systems and data structures
• Improving existing applications as well as creating new ones from scratch

Olery has a flat engineering structure that gives individuals a great amount of responsibility. 

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with Ruby and preferably Sinatra and Rails
• Understand, maintain and grow a large codebase
• Experience with development of REST APIs
• Knowledge to build complex and efficient queries with PostgreSQL, as well as RDBMS maintenance and scaling
• Be used to TDD and Continuous Integration
• Capable of building highly threaded applications for handling huge datasets
• Be a team player in a flat-structured, highly collaborative environment
• High degree of autonomy and a getting-it-done mentality

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
• Front end technologies: HTML, Sass, Javascript and Virtual DOM libraries
• Contributions to open source projects
• Experience with MongoDB
