Job description
The Software Development Test Engineer is part of the software development team responsible for creating and maintaining the software that drives PerkinElmer’s laboratory automation solutions. The ideal candidate would have an interest in Life Sciences, and be well versed in good software engineering practices using Microsoft and other third party tools. The incumbent is expected to not only be a strong individual contributor, but also be able to comfortably work as part of a multi-national team.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a cross functional team from initial design to delivery to develop quality assurance and test plans for product releases
- Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action
- Oversee quality assurance as a member of development project teams
- Provide team leadership and technical direction in the test and quality assurance area
- Administer defect tracking and testing tools
- Perform QA reporting for product release process
- Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action
- Critique existing and suggests new software features
Skills & requirements
- BS/MS in an Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience, advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 8 years of accumulated software testing experience in designing and executing comprehensive test plans for commercial applications in both Agile and phase gate development processes
- Seasoned professional with the ability to understand and have successfully worked with scientific instruments in Life Sciences, encompassing Bio-Chemistry, Genomics, Opto-Electro-mechanical technologies
- Solid understanding of Microsoft technology stack including C# and VB.Net
- In-depth knowledge of various testing methodologies and tools such as WinRunner and QTP
- Effective communication, planning, organization, problem solving and troubleshooting skills required
- Highly effective time management skills
- Aptitude to learn new systems and retain technical information
- Commitment to customer excellence with demonstrated ethics and integrity
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to continuous improvement principles
- Energetic, results-driven with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
