JAVA EE / JSF Developer

All areas of TRIUMF’S operations rely on the business applications, web services and authentication mechanisms provided by our MIS computing team.   This team works to conceive, design, develop, deliver and support the IT necessary for TRIUMF’s current and future success.     At TRIUMF, we know that with the right talent, all things are possible.  For the MIS team, the right talent is someone with a passion for technology and application development who is capable of innovative out of the box thinking and who can bring new ideas to achieve work process improvements.   Our list of projects are considerably ambitious, so we are seeking an enthusiastic, talented Developer to join this busy, fast-paced group.

The unique aspect of this position is that it is not limited to Java EE development.  It includes other languages and IT skills that will allow the successful candidate to grow and excel!  If you have strong JavaEE and core Java development experience, and are interested in broadening your skills while expanding to leadership,  then this is the job for you!

Key areas of responsibility include:

1.  Application design, development, maintenance and enhancements

2.  Technical support for a new ERP system “Agresso”

3.  Support for the public and intranet website using the Drupal CMS, for maintaining the middleware  and configuration of this site, and supporting a MediaWiki infrastructure

4.  Database administration and support (IBM DB/2 for i, MS-SQL Server, and MySQL)

Much of our technology is built from the ground up, so we want people looking to work both independently and with a team to take ownership for our solutions. 

Beneficial knowledge or experience:

JavaEE6;  Linux;  IBM i (AS/400) and Windows;  Mercurial code repository;  Maven build manager;  Jenkins continuous integration server;  Jira issue and project tracker;  Glassfish application servers;  Netbeans desktop IDE;  JSF application and component libraries (PrimeFaces and IceFaces);  web service development (both RESTful and SOAP);  DB2 for i, MySQL, and MS-SQL Server;  LDAP;  Eclipse IDE, ILE RPG, and PHP 5;  IBM Net.Data.   Knowledge or familiarity with:   HRIS, FIS, ERP will be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, software engineering or a related field that has a high competency in the aspects of administering business applications and databases, and at least 5 years of relevant experience most recently with JavaEE and core Java development.   Applicants must be legally able to accept a permanent position in Canada as either a permanent resident or citizen of Canada.
