Senior Backend Developer

We are looking for strong engineer to join our R&D Mobile Backend team focused on finding a better and more efficient way of communicating between iOS/Android and our backend systems.

The Mobile Backend Team's purpose is to create backends with mobile-first mindset. Android Developers originally formed the team with this aim. Currently, the team is working on a greenfield Research & Development project. The project leverages HTTP2/gRPC bidirectional streaming hosted on AWS EKS cluster to handle dealing functionalities on IG's mobile platforms

We are looking for experienced backend engineer to help us with architecture design, implementation and infrastructure setup. Ideal candidate would be a person who is keen to learn a little bit more about mobile platforms, real-time streaming and is interested in finance world.

The project is cloud based service which is responsible for dealing logic for mobile apps. Mobile apps will be connecting to it for providing data and doing trading actions.

What you'll do:

• developing the project (Kotlin, gRPC, Rx, protobuf, cloud)
(for all of this the dev will have support from other teams in IG and team mates)

• helping/guide mobile teams with its integration

• work with infra team to facilitate project rollout

Who you’ll be:

The following experience is essential:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Solid understanding of Kotlin/Java
- Experience in server application development, deployment, maitenance
- Experience working with reactive programming (preferably RxJava)
- Understanding of code design patterns and principles
- Very good English (both written and spoken)

Nice to have but not required:
- Android/iOS platform knowledge
- Basics of gRPC and Protobuf
- Experience with Spring
- Basic knowledge of AWS and AWS Lambda
- Experience with Kubernetes at scale on-prem or in the cloud
- Experience with CI/CD and test automation
