PostgreSQL DBA

Our PostgreSQL DBA is responsible for improving and maintaining PostgreSQL databases for the Business.

We are administers of PostgreSQL clusters, Postgres environments, with responsibilities expanding into optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. We support software developers, database architects and Product Teams on data initiatives and ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. We are extremely excited about the prospect of optimizing and/or re-designing our company’s data architecture, to support our next generation products and data initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Support the full project life cycle - to include any of consulting, discovery, analysis, architecture, design, documentation, building, migration, automation and production-readiness activities
• Support project engagements, work collaboratively with other team members, communicate effectively, and foster team success
• Maintain platforms (Postgres)
• Maintaining and creating new scripts to automate daily tasks
• Produces automation and tooling solutions which includes scripting and automation of production deployments and tools
• Environment support and maintenance
• Trouble shooting performance issues
• Technical documentation
• Maintaining standard operating procedures
• Hot-seat Support
• Capacity Reporting and maintenance include dashboard creation
• Driving Operational efficiency
• Creating internal project to improve process or operations

Training and/or Certification:

Certified in any one of the following:

• Splunk basic training
• PostgreSQL 11 Associate Certification

**Experience in the technology in a similar role

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. Apache Cassandra) and NoSQL support in PostgreSQL

· PSQL experience, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.

· Familiarity with PostgreSQL support for JSON

· Demonstrable experience working with huge, interdependent, complex datasets and data structures.

· Experience in Azure

· Working knowledge of both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows

· Experience with operating system scripting languages (e.g.: Ansible, PowerShell)

· Worked on large complex projects

· Good Documentation

· Knowledge on Splunk, Elastic, Grafana

· Tools: DBeaver, MobaXterm, PgAdmin

Duties:

· Postgres Administration ensure jobs are running optimal

· Error log reporting and investigations

· Metric Monitoring

· Daily Administration of emails and attending meetings

· Postgres optimizations

· Postgres future improvements are documented including compiling of runbooks

· Capacity planning

· Extraction of Non PII data to assist development & Support teams

· Assist in Test Centre Database troubleshooting (TC’s)

· Support, Hot Seat, Standby and walk in investigations

· Ensure 30% of allocated hours are focused on Reboot Initiatives.
