Team Stories
The development team consists of three departments: frontend, backend and data science. Each team has its own working area but the teams are also working together closely.
The backend team builds and maintains the core computing algorithms and integrates an increasing number of data sources. It is also responsible to expose all information and process all customer inputs through a rstful API.
Data science is working on making the system adaptive to new data. They are constantly working on machine learning models to improve the prediction quality.
The frontend team uses data from the API and makes it accessible for customers in a well arranged and easy-to-use way.
The work is organized in bi-weekly sprints that run simultaneously but seperated for each team. Every developer at Synfioo has a field he feels responsible for: the design, the integration of new data sources or of customer systems etc. However there is a lot of mutual support when needed and all the work is carried out in a four-eyes principle, so that everything gets reviewed by another developer before going live.

The backend is based on a micro-service architecture using AWS-Lamdas, mostly written in Java but also in Python or node.js where feasible/applicable. Coding in the data science team is done in Python.
