From my question here: Without subclassing a UIView or UIViewController: possible to catch if a subview was added?

I'm wondering how to port the code from the answer to MonoTouch. It basically replaces a method with a new one and then calls the old one without subclassing. Is it possible at all to get this pointer juggling it to work in MonoTouch?

This looks like a good candidate for us to provide a general purpose mechanism to hijack methods. Here is an implementation in pure C# code that you can use in the meantime:

Error: The best overloaded method match for BrainloopMobile.PSPDFKit.PSPDFKitHelper.method_setImplementation(System.IntPtr, System.IntPtr)' has some invalid arguments error CS1503: Argument #2' cannot convert System.Func<System.IntPtr,System.IntPtr,System.IntPtr>' expression to type System.IntPtr'

    @Krumelur: It might work to use Marshal.GetFunctionPointerForDelegate to convert the delegate to a function pointer. The other possibility is to change the signature of method_getImplementation to return an IntPtr, and use Marshal.GetDelegateForFunctionPointer to convert it to an Func<IntPtr,IntPtr,IntPtr> before using it (in which case you'll have the IntPtr to restore the original method).
