I have a project where the Main-Method-class "Bootstrap.class" is in the src/test folder. So I use <classpathScope>test</classpathScope> to be able to execute

mvn exec:java

My problem: I get a "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown entity:" cause I´m importing certain classes, which are located at the main/java. Any thoughts on how can I solve this?

that was also my first thought. But the server and my app start without any Problems. The mentioned exception is only thrown when I try to run the class "Bootstrap"(which is located in src/test, and contains a main method) as a java application. –  slowessam Apr 4 '12 at 12:22
    
Like @Raghuram said, this looks like a Hibernate conf problem - my guess is you haven't defined xml mappings or applied java annotations to the eu.paedrtx.register.server.domain.PaymentDetails class –  Chris White Apr 7 '12 at 20:49

Try to use exec goal instead of java with classpath argument as described here http://mojo.codehaus.org/exec-maven-plugin/examples/example-exec-for-java-programs.html

This will fork JVM and may fix a lot of problems, especially with tools like Hibernate, that do non-trivial classloading. This is because Maven would not have to use classloader magic to supply correct classpath in-process (Maven is java process itself which is started with trivial classpath, that includes only maven bootstrap jars). This way it will just populate -cp argument, and fork the new process: easy and simple to diagnose.

I solved this issue. the problem was that I had 2 persistence.xml one for testing in test/resources and the other for the app in main/resources. I had to remove the one in test/resources and add an other persistence-unit in the applications persistence.xml .
