I'm getting the same error at 2 different places in this program which is supposed to make a 1d, a 2d and a 3d array and store values and simultaneously display them. error: subscript requires array or pointer type / expression must have pointer-to-object type the error is for the expression c[r][c][depth]

You used the variable name c twice: once for the array and second for the loop counter.

Howard is right. You redeclare c as an integer in the nested for loop for(int c=0;c<COL;c++).

You re-declared c as an int for the scope of the loop. You need to provide a different variable name for the loop.

Ex:

for(int k=0;k<COL;k++)
{
    for(int depth=0;depth<DEPTH;depth++)
    {
        c[r][k][depth]=r+k+depth+2;             
        cout << c[r][k][depth];                 
    }
}

That should compile and fix your problem It might help to use more meaningful variable names in the future.
