I'm using phonegap to develop a mobile web application and possibly transfer it to other platforms later on such as android, etc.

I want to be able to write to local files on the device, however, no matter, what I do, it doesn't work. There is no proper documentation to support with such problems.

If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Note that this line doesn't work: navigator.notification.alert(window.requestFileSystem); does not display an alert.

Likely, the alert doesn't show because of a problem in the Cordova.exec above it. Try getting a basic file system app using the file API docs.phonegap.com/en/1.5.0/phonegap_file_file.md.html#File before adding in the plugin. –  Paul Beusterien Apr 10 '12 at 21:30
    
Thanks Paul, but that didn't work. I changed the code to: navigator.notification.alert("hi kaan", null, "hey", "SWEET"); navigator.notification.alert(window.requestFileSystem); Cordova.exec("NativeControls.createTabBar"); still no luck. –  c0d3Junk13 Apr 11 '12 at 13:13
    
So I also tried to alert the navigator object itself and didn't get an alert. But when I alerted navigator.toString() that worked. When I try navigator.LocalFileSystem.toString() that doesn't work either. I'm not sure how the LocalFileSystem object doesn't get initialized when the rest of the navigator objects are initialized. Any ideas? –  c0d3Junk13 Apr 11 '12 at 13:30

I was using 1.4.1 yesterday when I successfully saw the alert. When I switch to 1.5.0, the alert prints null. This is because of the require namespacing that was added in cordova-1.5.0.

However, even in 1.5.0, the API sample still works for me:

Btw, Cordova 1.6.0 just got released today. So I switched to that and testing things out again. I'm thinking maybe I set some things wrong since even window.requestFileSystem type functions don't work. I'll post results. –  c0d3Junk13 Apr 11 '12 at 21:31

I don't have the files inside the apis folder. They didn't come with the last download of Cordova. Is that my problem? –  c0d3Junk13 Apr 12 '12 at 15:32
    
No. Those file are part of the AppLaud sample app. There's a pull request in progress to add them to the official Cordova. Perhaps 1.7? –  Paul Beusterien Apr 12 '12 at 15:38
