# To Find the maximum consecutive sum of integers in an array

I have this implementation, the result of this program is 100 but the correct answer is 103. is anyone knows what is wrong in this implementation or if there is a better way for Finding the maximum consecutive sum of integers in an array?

Without understanding the algorithm, the first thing that jumps out is that n is 12 and a[] is only defined up to a[7]. So looping for i < n will access memory garbage. –  andy Apr 10 '12 at 19:52

You are not using the correct indexes:

I suggest Kadane's algorithm. In C++ it will be something like this (untested):

Your implementation's indices were incorrect, as noted by other users. I felt it was necessary to add an answer, however, to point out that your implementation fails if all values are negative (and the closest-to-positive number is not in the first position).

A quick fix for this issue would be to add a check when assigning temp sum in the case where `a[i] < 0 && temp_sum + t < 0` - at the last else block.

If it is looking for the largest consecutive sum not starting at index 0, the easiest way would be to have two loops
