I get a "BadPaddingException: Given final block not properly padded" exception in Groovy(JDK 1.6) using AES with padding.

I run into this error when trying to run the decode() method using decrypt an encrypted String value from a property file(run independent of the encrypt process). The encryption was done separately and stored in a property file in a separate process.

This works fine when both encrypt (encode method) and decrypt(decode method) are run together as in the main method.

I have browsed the stackoverflow issues for this and 1 of them says I have a bad key issue when decrypting.

I looked at the iv contents stored in the file and they are the same and so is the Secretkey stored in a keystore being returned.

So, am i failing on the Cipher.init(..) step where a SecureRandom is used behind the scenes by the Cipher code. Or am I not storing the key or iv padding properly ?

I have stored the iv and SecretKey in separate files so that they can be reused for decryption in a separate process independent of when the encryption was done.
