I am trying to map vector A(m) to B(m) using a map(m) i.e. tranfer elements of vector A to B according to the approperiate process number using the one sided communication. There is an example in the MPI standard book. I wrote a small main program for the subroutine and copied the example subroutine. Suppose I only have 2 procs and I try to transfer all the elements in proc 0 to proc 1 and vice versa. However, I get segmentation fault with this code below.

I get same problem with Intel and Gfrotran compilers. Here how I compile:

At what point does the seg fault occur? Does it print anything before the crash? –  Colin D Apr 18 '12 at 12:54
I can't reproduce the segfault -- compiled using gfortran 4.4.3 on Ubuntu Linux and OpenMPI 1.4.1. (mpif90 -O2 test.f90 -o test). –  mgilson Apr 18 '12 at 13:05
Actually, with Intel I checked now and it tells me "Subscript #1 of the array OINDEX has value 11 which is greater than the upper bound of 10" which happens in CALL MPI_TYPE_CREATE_INDEXED_BLOCK(count(i), 1, oindex(total(i)+1), MPI_REAL, otype(i), ierr) –  Hossein Talebi Apr 18 '12 at 13:08
@HosseinTalebi absolutely correct. I just tried with -fbounds-check enabled and that caught the runtime error. –  mgilson Apr 18 '12 at 13:23
I use gfortran 4.6 or intel 12.1 with ubuntu 11.1. Maybe my main program is wrong with the input? –  Hossein Talebi Apr 18 '12 at 13:38
