I'm trying to learn C and MPI, this program calculates the sum of n floats. But I have an error:

Are 2 days that I don’t know which way to turn. Here the Program:

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but packet_size is used without being initialised here. Compiling with -Wall actually warns you about this.

-Wall will also warn you that you are missing the <time.h> header file.

I generally recommend that for new code, people use -Wall -Wextra -Werror. It helps you catch these sorts of problems, and -Werror means that you actually fix all of the warnings (even if they are not actually problems) so that you'll actually notice when new problems are introduced. –  Brian Campbell Apr 22 '12 at 17:15

packet_size is not defined, so it will be junk value, undefined behavior, calloc need not succeed 100%

`numbers_loc = (float*) calloc( packet_size, sizeof (float) );`
`packet_size = n / nproc;

` global variable nproc will be initialized to 0 and dividing some number by 0 This should throw an exception.

`rest = n % nproc;`

The above statement is also not allowed. I dont know if there is any mechanism to supress above errors and then if the control comes to below statements

numbers_loc will be corrupted as the packet_size is undefined and numbers_loc is allocated with junk size. free(numbers_loc);
