When i execute the code below, it always keeps giving me "invalid" even if I replace usertry by a predetermined string.. Is there any syntax problem in my query?

The check login method is in another class that checks for valid login

Obviously this Toast message will always been shown, even if your query works. You should try something like :

if  (mCursor.moveToFirst()){
         Toast.makeText(LoginActivity.this, "Yaaaay", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
     }else{
         Toast.makeText(LoginActivity.this, "invalid", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
     }

But I guess this is not the real problem, but I don't see any other problems. Maybe we need to see your DatabaseAdapter class.

Have you checked whether your database is getting loaded in DDMS –  RMH Apr 23 '12 at 7:29
    
The database is working fine. I have saved it and read it with Sqlite Browser.. –  user1350162 Apr 23 '12 at 13:16
