I have this working JS:

The problem is that ReservationsViewModel gets closed right after self.avalaibleMeals while it shouldn't...

How can i solve?

Why not just use the working JavaScript instead of trying to port it to a higher-level language which gets compiled back into JavaScript? –  maerics Apr 23 '12 at 19:59
    
The indentation that array looks a little funky wrt the commas and closing bracket--is it correct? –  Dave Newton Apr 23 '12 at 20:00
    
I tried out coffeescript for about 3 days and ran into a bunch of problems like this. Not only that, but I foun that the code that coffeescript generates is totally incompatible with jslint.js so in choosing between the two I chose jslint.js –  ControlAltDel Apr 23 '12 at 20:05
    
@DaveNewton putting the comma at the same line of the object end up in an error: multiple object literal properties named "mealName" while compiling CS –  Matteo Pagliazzi Apr 23 '12 at 20:12

Have you tried rewriting this to use some of the features that CoffeeScript gives you like classes?

I can't be 100% sure the following will work, but it might be a good place for you to start.

class SeatReservation
  constructor: (@name, initialMeal) ->
    @meal = ko.observable initialMeal
    @formattedPrice = ko.computed =>
      price = @meal().price;
      if price?
        price = "$#{price.toFixed(2)}"
      else
        price = "None"

class ReservationsViewModel
  constructor: ->
    @availableMeals = [{
      mealName: "Standard (sandwich)"
      price: 0
    },{
      mealName: "Premium (lobster)"
      price: 34.95
    },{
      mealName: "Ultimate (whole zebra)"
      price: 290
    }]    

    @seats = ko.observableArray [
      new SeatReservation "Steve", self.availableMeals[0]
      new SeatReservation "Bert",  self.availableMeals[0]
    ]

    @totalSurcharge = ko.computed =>

Looks like the bogus indentation of the bracket may be causing the nesting to get hosed up--there's an extra space there. Indentation is really important in whitespace-delimited languages.

I copied your code and it compiled fine with me (CS 1.3.3)

      self.totalSurcharge = ko.computed(function() {
      .....

Perhaps something is wrong with your indentation - remember NEVER to mix tabs or spaces with coffeescript, it completely messes things up. Actually the 'community' proposes 2 spaces for indentation, check https://github.com/polarmobile/coffeescript-style-guide
