I am not able to figure out why the DB insertion is failing. logcat shows that that the table creation query is normal. Still sms_current_count column is missing in the table.

where exactly in code your are pottuing smsCount=1 in to the Log . I dont the line of code for this. From Log its very obvious that particular column is not there. SO check for any error while creating table. –  preetha May 9 '12 at 7:49

Usually when your create script is fine and there's a column that doesn't exist in the db it's because you changed the schema without incrementing the db version. If this is the case, the only thing wrong with your CREATE script is that it has not been run yet

Thanks for the input. You were right with the change of schema and DB name being the same. Due to this the table was opened instead of creating a new one. I removed the DB now via adb shell. –  webgenius May 9 '12 at 15:09
