I can't figure out why my code results in the bottom JTextArea growing beyond the bounds of the window it sits in.

I created the GUI using WindowBuilder and have tried many different ways of limiting the size, but I just can't seem to figure out why it grows beyond the size I set in WindowBuilder's Design view.

This is my code:(This my first time using this forum, please excuse posting errors)

As an aside setBounds(100, 100, 903, 751); Don't do that. Oh, & I notice you are using MigLayout - might pay to add that tag. –  Andrew Thompson May 20 '12 at 3:30

I belive that you want the bottom JTabbedPane to adapt to your application window height. In case of that - line:

new MigLayout("", "[grow]", "[200px:200px][200px:200px:200px][200px:200px:200px]"));

is your problem. You are setting minimum height of 3rd row to 200px (and if you want this row to grow - this is not happening either - 200px maximum height)

From MigLayout cheat sheet:

The format is "min:preferred:max", however there are shorter versions since for instance it is seldom needed to specify the maximum size.
