I have written a code for calculating the determinant of a 3x3 matrix in mapreduce.

The output of the reducer class gives the minor for each row element. Adding these minors will give the determinant. Hence I added a global variable sum to get it. However the variable sum always returns 0. The output of the reducer also contained zero.The variable 'result' of the minor functions isn't getting updated.Please take a look

i also figured out that once i iterate over an iterable field, you can't re-iterate....but i need to do it....apart from saving in an array is there any better way because storage will disregard the use of mapreduce – DB cooper Jun 2 '12 at 11:05

it won't be efficient but it might be for higher order matrices – DB cooper Jun 2 '12 at 21:27
