# Solving second-order ODE with cummulative summation notation with MATLAB

I have problem defining the equation in MATLAB for me to solve it using ode solver. The equation is second-order differential equation of a position vector, where it involves a summation in it and also previous and next value (eg: r_i - r_i-1 and r_i+1 - r_i) Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry for the messy description, I seriously have no idea how to express it in words.

The equation is like this:

the subscript ui and di mean elements (i-1)th / i-th, and i-th / (i+1)th respectively. k is curvature, x and y are Cartesian coordinates, other quantities can just be treated as constant.

Hi, it very hard to read your equation. Can you at least write it in matlab or in latex please? Moreover you can import pictures in SO, so you can show it with a screeshot. For the description, can you please better explain the algorithm you want to use and maybe point to sources in order for the community to help you? Hello, sorry for the late reply, I've been preparing for my final exams lately.
