I have 2 ownerdrawn combo boxes. One is a line color picker- Here in the picture it is not a combo box. The other being a linestyle selector. Once the user picks a color in the first combo, the linestyle selector combo (See second picture, the last combo(one with noname)) must have the same colored lines.

The m_SerOpts.GetColor(idxSeries) method returns a color object but returns a '00fff00' kind of value for Name. Pls lemme know if u need more explanation

I would use reflection to populate a list with all colours from the Color class (although you could copy this in code):

Dictionary<String, Color> colors = typeof(Color).GetProperties(BindingFlags.Static | BindingFlags.Public).ToDictionary(p => p.Name, p => (Color)p.GetValue(null, null) );

then use a method to search this dictionary for a color which matches a passed color:

public String GetColorName(Color color)
{
    return colors.Where(c => c.Value.A == color.A && c.Value.R == color.R && c.Value.G == color.G && c.Value.B == color.B).FirstOrDefault().Key;
}

If no color is matched, null will be returned.

Isn't there any other simple way. y isn't the one Ahmed Ghoneim suggested method working? System.Drawing.ColorTranslator.FromHtml("#FFFFFF").Name –  user575219 Jun 4 '12 at 4:43
    
The ColorTranslator.FromHtml method doesn't do anything other than convert from HTML notation and call Color.FromARGB. If a Color object has IsKnownColor set to true, Color.Name will return its name, but it seems that the only way to do this is to actually use the static members from Color - Color.Blue, etc. I'll look into if it's possible to use any of the code .Name uses internally. –  TheEvilPenguin Jun 4 '12 at 4:54
    
It's all marked internal, so only the .NET framework can access it. It also needs the Color's number, which only shifts the problem to mapping Colors to numbers, instead of directly Colors to names. Unfortunately I don't think any solution will be much simpler. –  TheEvilPenguin Jun 4 '12 at 5:00

it doesnt do anything. gives me combo boxes with colors in none. I put a breakpoint there and looks like it skips the rest of the code Color selCol = m_SerOpts.GetColor(idxSeries); int selcolARGB = selCol.ToArgb(); string name = System.Drawing.ColorTranslator.FromHtml(selCol.Name).Name; -------Skipped from here ComboBoxItem item1Solid = new ComboBoxItem("Solid Line",Properties.Resources.Solidline,selcolARGB); So its not even adding any items. I removed the line and then its ok –  user575219 Jun 4 '12 at 3:18
