I'm doing a project in which images are added dynamically to the screen. There are absolutely no XML references created at compile-time because the entire thing is generated dynamically.

How my app looks at runtime

The entire thing is generated dynamically. Now, I want to know how to add an onclick event to each of the images. Basically, when an image is clicked, another image with a darker shade should appear (it is basically an answer sheet so it is like a bubble is shaded). I would like some sample code in this context. I'm new to Android and am pretty much lost now.

Please help!

P.S. If the source code is required, I'll gladly put it up. Please let me know.

The thing is I don't know what to do. I'm completely clueless. Wherever I see, the onClick event is given to something which has been created in the XML file at compile time. In this, everything is generated dynamically. Also, do you mean you want to see the code? –  pratnala Jun 15 '12 at 5:24

implement OnClickListener in your Activity

Sorry, You can't. There is no android method for it.. For this you have to make some trick. like, a hashmap function which will store imageview id as a key and image resource path or name as a value. and onclick get those value using imageview's id as key.. –  user370305 Jun 15 '12 at 11:42

In Java, just run the setOnClickListener method on your ImageViews like so:

mImageView.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
    @Override
    public void onClick(View v) {
        ImageView iv = (ImageView) v;
        iv.setImageResource(R.id.darkbubble);
        //Do anything else you would like
    }
});

2 questions. What is mImageView? Or is it just ImageView? And also, you have given setImageResource. But the code is different for each A you see (i.e. there are 2 possible things which can happen). So I need something which can detect the id of the image clicked. –  pratnala Jun 15 '12 at 5:54
