I'm trying to make a code in python. I already have some functions and a GUI but now I want to display the output of a function in a label.

For example I have a function for minimum:

def minimum(numbers):
    numbers.sort()
    return numbers[0]

and I have this label:

minimum = Label(secondFrame, text="Minumum:", font=("Verdana",10), fg="#000000")+str(minimum(list))
minimum.pack(anchor="w")

the str(minimum(list)) thing isn't working because I get an error index list out of range.

This is the full code, however it's in Dutch so I don't know if you can understand everything but I really hope someone can help me.

If you get an error about index out of range, consider what happens to your minimum function when numbers (or getallen) is an empty list. –  Simeon Visser Jun 17 '12 at 15:37
    
Don't reinvent the wheel - the min() builtin exists for a reason. –  Lattyware Jun 17 '12 at 15:47

Your function name is overwritten by the label name. Use different names for the function and label.

Also, you could just use the built-in min function:

min(numbers)

See @SimeonVisser's comment about what happens when you have an empty list. index zero won't exist. min will also fail for an empty list, but with ValueError: min() arg is an empty sequence. You'll have to handle that condition. –  Mark Tolonen Jun 18 '12 at 1:51
