I'm trying to build a python procedure that:

  • Open a .txt file (which contain only this string: "47 297 297" as a sugestion to user);
  • Get three strings from user (e.g., "47", "298", "298"), which can be different from the sugested string and must be concatenated this way `"47 298 298" at the end of the operation;
  • Convert the last two strings into integers after adding +1 to it;
  • Then convert that integer into a string again;
  • And concatenate the three strings into a single string, writing it in an external file.

Example:

When I do this on IDE, it's ok. But when I do this in my little appn (code bellow), I find an unicode issue error:

('297' is the first splited number in the .txt file)

The script was save in UTF-8. How to fix it?

The problem isn't that it's a unicode string, the problem is that you're passing the string representation of a tuple as fp:

"(u'297',)"

is literally what int() throws the error on. Check what value you are passing to geted_numFinalPage. What value does self.request.get("numFinalPage") return?

Thanks, @Joel self.request.get("numFinalPage")`returns 297. I tried again with another value (298) and the error, now, is (u'298',). Any suggestion? –  craftApprentice Jul 3 '12 at 22:22
