I am using dispatch_async for background uploads. From another Stackoverflow question I had found out that dispatch_async is better than PerformSelectorInBackground. But now after I called it the UI becomes very slow. Can anyone provide a solution for this? The code I had used is added below:

Are you sure you're not posting it on the ui queue? You should create your own queue. –  Dani Jul 9 '12 at 4:55

I don't know what causes your problem, but if you only read someString in the block, you don't need the __block. __block is used if you want to change the value of that variable from within the block. –  Scott Berrevoets Jul 9 '12 at 4:58

Posted the Complete code I am using. There will be approximately 1000 contacts in the address book. I had used this code to send 10 contacts at a time. After getting response I will send another 10 contacts and so on. –  Jayashankar Jul 9 '12 at 6:19

May be autoreleased objects slowing down... have to checked in instruments tool which function is taking more time.

//Can you try using autoreleasepool for the threaded function.

                     @autoreleasepool {
