Hi,

This is just a small program to read file information of all the files in the specified folder or path. The problem is, the program completes in the middle, its not reading all the files. Its breaks around 36899 count. I am not getting any error or exception but it just completes in the middle. It works perfectly fine for a small number of files like 18,000. I wanted to how much time it takes for bigger count of files, so i just selected the c: drive and got this stopper. Even i changed all the int's to long, even so its not necessary. Tried it.

In this winform through the filedialog, i will select a specific folder/drive and the program will loop through and get all the files in the folder and sub-folders. Since this process hangs up the GUI, i am doing this through a background worker.

First, i run the countfiles function to get the number of files in the path. Later i use that count to estimate the time-remaining and i have richtextbox to see all the exceptions(access denied ones).

It looks like you copied the example code at msdn.microsoft.com/it-it/library/dd383573.aspx — note that EnumerateDirectories is not, by default, recursive. You can make it so by specifying the AllDirectories search option as the second parameter. See here: msdn.microsoft.com/it-it/library/ms143448.aspx . NOTE: If you choose AllDirectories in your search and the directory structure contains a link that creates a loop, the search operation enters an infinite loop. –  magma Jul 15 '12 at 11:49
