Having a XY Line Chart I would like compress/expand data visualization both for X and Y axis by left mouse click, keep pressed and drag left/right and up/down.

Here is a chart example

How can I accomplish this? I haven't found any examples anywhere!

Result after left mouse click, pressed and drag on Y Axis from top to bottom

Same result should be for X Axis to get a compressed line data by left/right mouse drag

If I understood your question correctly, perhaps you could use something like the following which will resize the chart based on clicking and dragging on the axes.

An alternate implementation could use a scale on the node.

The implementation above leaves slight ghost trails as the graph is resized, so you may want to fix that up somehow, if the example proves useful.

Thanks jewelsea, your works is great but I think I did not explain correctly what I need to achieve: once data is plotted ( for data I mean the line data plotted), by left mouse click, keep pressed and drag left/right on X axis the line itself should expand / compress (i.e. magnify) while the chart remain the same 800,600 dimension. The scene will not change as dimensions, only we will have a line plot changed. Will try to add a picture so to be more clear –  Alberto acepsut Jul 18 '12 at 7:23
    
Thought I was missing something ;-) I think you might want to look into setting the range upon drag detection. Drag detection logic should be similar to the example I provided, but you will be scaling the max/min range values rather than the chart size. –  jewelsea Jul 18 '12 at 17:52
