What I'm trying to do is to have DataGridView bounded to my model and have two not-bounded columns with different values in each row; these columns are containing ComboBoxes.

It's kind of working: the bounded values are displayed properly and the ComboBoxes ARE populated with items and item.ToString() gives the value I would suspect to be displayed in the ComboBoxes to choice from... but they are not displayed. I suspect that I'm using DisplayMember wrongly but I can't see why...

This is how I populate every ComboBox:

DataGridViewComboBoxCell theCell = (DataGridViewComboBoxCell)dataGridView1.Rows[tableRow.Index].Cells["SendSets"];
BindingSource theSource = new BindingSource(customerRow, "SendSets");
theCell.ValueMember = "Value";
theCell.DisplayMember = "Text";
theCell.DataSource = theSource;

The same problem is when I'm using simply BindingList. Class to populate ComboBoxes:

If I understood your code correctly you are trying to have different data sources for each row which is non standard usage of combobox column in data grid view. Try this sample:

But I'm not quite sure what is your Selected property equivalent in row class. You know of course that this column serves a purpose of selecting one of many available items and not for displaying list of items.

You understood my code properly and I know that the standard usage is just to set column-wide data source but as there is datasource property for each row to get and set - it should be possible. I also know what the column serves for and my column is just for that: I have a Customer class and Set class, Row class is containing Customer and a set of Set entities when the set of Sets is different for each Customer. When the user will choose the set from the cell - the app will open new form, containing details about this particular set in relation to customer. –  smsware Jul 24 '12 at 9:39
