How can I connect to Oracle DB from Java without using any DSN, so the program can be executed on any system without any changes ?

It would serve you better if you read the JDBC Basics Documentation and start with your work. But to give you a headstart, here's an outline of what you might have to do:

  • Download the Oracle JDBC Drivers appropriate to your Oracle Database Version.

  • Establish a connection with your database. Over here, depending on your requirement, you have a couple of options:

a. Write your own code (something like this):-

public Connection getConnection(String connection url, String userName, String password){
    Connection connection = null;

    if(url == null || userName == null || password == null)
        return connection;

    try {
        // Load the JDBC driver
        String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver";
        Class.forName(driverName);

        connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
        // Could not find the database driver
    } catch (SQLException e) {
        // Could not connect to the database
    }

    return connection
}

b. Consider using Connection Pooling

Here are a couple of SO discussions on Connection Pooling

Now that you've somehow established your connection, you can now create PreparedStatement to work with your database. Here's a tutorial, in case you need something to help you with PreparedStatement.

@Sourav - I know you are. I'm telling you that you'd be better off reading the documentation. If you read it, you will stand a better chance of understanding what you are doing. And even if you don't, the documentation might contain some ready-made examples ... –  Stephen C Jul 28 '12 at 13:56
