I'm truly disturbed by the Session Closed error, while sending queries to my database ( struts2 + hibernate ).

I read in an answer of kind of this problem that as a solution we can use a "non-trasactional database", kind of setting an automatical commit. But in my case I need to work with transaction, and I need to make many SQL queries ( insert & select ).. What should I change to resolve this problem? Thank you a lot in advance!!

Here I found my solution, I hope it will help somebody else :

Instead of :

Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession();

I did :

Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().openSession();

It's probably best to open and close in an interceptor or filter. That way each request has access to its own session and you don't have to replicate that code in every action that needs to read or write to the database. –  Steven Benitez Jul 31 '12 at 17:58
    
And I have a question.. If I do many DAO operations, but which is related.. for example : "1) upload a course 2)upload the student who gonna assist that course". I need to do a way with which if i cancel in the step of registering the students, the course should canceled too. Does it mean I should eliminate "session.beginTransaction(); and session.getTransaction().commit(); " for every function in the DAO class and do it in the function of the Action class for the group of the related DAO operations.., ? This is kind of a conception question that I need to have the good habits. Thank you!!! –  Julia Jul 31 '12 at 21:26
    
Transaction code should not be in the action. I usually mark my action methods as @Transactional, which is from Guice Persist, but I think Spring has a similar annotation. In your case, since you are manually handling transactions, you might want to keep that in the DAO. –  Steven Benitez Aug 1 '12 at 13:30
