I'm trying to set up an OpenGL project using GLFW in Visual c++ 2008 (Windows 7). I have added the GLFW include and library directories to the project's include and library paths, and I have put the following in additional dependencies:

GLFW.lib glu32.lib opengl32.lib

That is everything I need to do, isn't it? But when I try to compile any OpenGl program (except an extremely simple one that only clears the screen using glClear) I get a bunch of undeclared identifier and identifier not found erros. Any Idea why this can happen? Here is the complete error list:

The very first line is a syntax error that might very well ruin include statements after it. Fix that first and see what happens. It would also be good if you included at least the first part of your program that contain these lines. –  HonkyTonk Aug 14 '12 at 11:51
    
THank you! the first error corresponds to this line: GLuint VBO;, so I think it isn't actually a sintax error, but an error caused because It doesn't know what GLuint is. I'll update the question with the first part of the program. –  XaitormanX Aug 14 '12 at 12:07
    
What's hidden inside math_3d.h? Maybe something in there is malformed? The GLuint type is found by the compiler, read the errors carefully. –  HonkyTonk Aug 14 '12 at 12:28

The problem is spelled out pretty clearly on the OpenGL Wiki's Getting Started page. Your problem is that you don't have a mechanism to load OpenGL functions, which is a necessary step in using OpenGL. You are strongly encouraged to use a library to do that.

Just adding some detail: the compilation errors are specifically caused by the Microsoft SDK GL/gl.h header file only supporting OpenGL up to and including version 1.1. –  elmindreda Aug 20 '12 at 13:46
