I'm doing a JSF project that works with a MySQL database using JPA. I have done this before too but this time my persist() function does not work. When I interact using NamedQueries they work fine but persist() does not affect my db tables whatsoever. Although my function returns "success" and the finally part of my try is executed but still persist doesn't do anything. My table has one-to-many relationships.

I'm not using Hibernate or Spring.

Here's EJB class. The authenticateUser function works fine but not addUser that has persist.

Just love these posts "doesn't work". Don't you just think that if you don't get some expected result then you ought to consult the log? Or maybe mention what you're using rather than what you're not using? (... as well as remove the offensive words from your new User of course). –  DataNucleus Aug 22 '12 at 10:08
    
I'm sorry about the offensive word. It took all my yesterday without a result. The problem is that there are no errors. The finally part of my try block is executed and the success message is returned. But the User table remains the same. It is weird that in one occasion that I changed my User entity object into another entity object it inserted a record into that table but then again it was the only time that it did that. I think I will now try to make use of "JSF Page from Entity Class" feature of JSF and see if that works better. But this still remains a mystery. Open to suggestions. "There are no errors". Well there is a log for whichever persistence tool you're using (seemingly a secret), and that would give you plenty of clues. I'd look there –  DataNucleus Aug 22 '12 at 12:55
