I already know what the output should be for this program - my problem is that I cannot get the program to give the correct output, or, any output for that matter. My problem is: to identify and display all the legs of the given tour that cross over any other leg. The data is as follows: The tours ("cities") are {0, 4, 1, 3, 2} and the points of those "cities" are {2,0} , {4,1} , {0,1} , {3,2} , {1,2}. Here is my program:

I know that the output should be: 0-4 crossed 3-2 4-1 crossed 3-2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your indexing looks a bit mucked up. I honestly didn't debug it too much once I realized your intersection algorithm worked.

Here's a quick example that illustrates the logic you were probably looking for. Its readability could certainly be improved with some temporary variables:

       for(int j=i; j<numPts-1; j++) {
         if(doCross(pointsAry[tourAry[i]][0],      // x1
                    pointsAry[tourAry[i]][1],      // y1
                    pointsAry[tourAry[i+1]][0],    // x2
                    pointsAry[tourAry[i+1]][1],    // y2
                    pointsAry[tourAry[j]][0],      // x3
                    pointsAry[tourAry[j]][1],      // y3
                    pointsAry[tourAry[j+1]][0],    // x4
                    pointsAry[tourAry[j+1]][1])) { // y4
             cout << tourAry[i] << " - " << tourAry[i+1] << " crosses " << tourAry[j] << " - " << tourAry[j+1] << endl;
         }
       }
    }

This gives the output:

0 - 4 crosses 3 - 2
4 - 1 crosses 3 - 2
