Currently, one of my game is using UIKit which its image comes from the spritesheets. Prior IOS6, the total memory used caps at 80mb at the title screen, but at IOS6, it spikes to 300MB. Even when I removed UIKit, the memory used is still like 80mb - 90mb from Cocos2d. Anyone has any idea why this is happening?

below are the codes which I cache the texture and use them:

and lastly, what i used in my CustomImageView.h and .m. The reason why I used a CustomImageView instead of an UIImageView is that it seems to use lesser memories than UIImageView:

Independently of your question, in your CustomImageView you are overriding drawRect with either an empty implementation or an implementation that could be done /without/ implementing drawRect using cornerRadius and borderColor/borderWidth on CALayer. The mere existence of the drawRect method will allocate a backing store the size of your view, even if you never use it. –  jfortmann Sep 27 '12 at 17:47
    
How are your resources stored? Are they loaded externally are they in the same application bundle? If they are, you can just rely on UIKit's image caching by just loading images using [UIImage imageNamed:@"imagename.png"]. –  Jeremy Foo Sep 28 '12 at 4:07
    
They are in the same application bundle. The reason why I implemented such a caching method is so that I have more controls over releasing the data. apparently does not work for IOS 6 now.... –  Alexander Lee Sep 28 '12 at 7:06
