The problem is, when i go the the login page, type an username/password to login I get an error even if i wrote them correctly (I checked my database and the entries exist). I know i should of used a Logger but i'm still learning the Spring Framework with Hibernate.

EDIT :
1.first part of the test i entered an empty username/password(and it works for empty/empty). For the second part i used one that should work.
2.Other DAOs work correctly with Hibernate (e.g. they retrieve the data correctly and i have no problem with them)

Is this a session timeout problem?

The logs reveal that it's not a Hibernate problem. The user name passed to the service (and thus to the DAO) is an empty string: User Service-- searching for User: –  JB Nizet Sep 28 '12 at 14:15
    
yea, sorry, forgot to mention. The first part of the log is when i didn't type the username/password and as you can see it passes through the dao and the database and it doesn't find empty. For the second part i typed a correct username and password and it stopped at Hibernate. –  Alexandru Tomuta Sep 28 '12 at 14:25
    
You probably have an exception thrown. Stop catching exceptions, or at least log them: catch (Exception e) { throw new UsernameNotFoundException("Error in retrieving user"); } –  JB Nizet Sep 28 '12 at 14:30

Print the stack trace of the exception, and it will tell you why. –  JB Nizet Sep 28 '12 at 14:48

The problem was i had no default constructor for the User class.
