I'm using Mezzofanti OSR open source on Android, and i'm stuck. when I'm pressing the camera button in the app, the app suddenly crashes. this is the CameraManeger.java code :

what am I doing wrong ?

There is a variable you are using which has not been initialized on line no 577 of your Mezzofanti.java file in the RequestCameraFocus() method. That's why you are getting a NullPointerException. These two lines in the logcat says it all:

Please check that line out and see if all the variables are initialized. Please post the code for that file if you need more help.

thank you ! that was it, the problem was where you said, I had a "String ss[] = OCR.getLanguagesNative(); if (ss == 0)" there and I changed it to : "String ss[] = OCR.getLanguagesNative(); if (ss == null)" –  Mickey Haim Oct 10 '12 at 8:25

check if you have given camera permission in your manifest
