I am new for CUDA programming. I have gone through previous posts and read books based on CUDA and understood the concepts still sometimes getting confused for accessing elements from memory. I have few doubts regarding the actual layout of memory in CUDA device.
A) 1) Please let me know how memory addresses: (0,0) (0,1),(1,0) and (1,1) are arranged in CPU memory and GPU memory? As per my knowledge it is in sequential fashion but what is the order of sequence?
2) After arrangement based on point 1, can anyone let me know which is row and which is column index in (1,0) and (0,1) separately?
3) Accessing elements from memory in column wise will give memory coalescing or accessing elements from memory in row will give memory coalescing with respect to above points 1 and 2?
4) Please let me know if normal matrix is stored in global memory then accessing its column is better or accessing its row is better for coalesced memory?
B)Shared Memory: 1)Actually I have certain articles but finding only basic knowledge for bank conflicts.. I have limited knowledge for shared memory bank conflicts: that is if different threads access different value from a single bank, then bank conflict may arise..But please let me know how bank conflict arise or does not arise using examples/cases.
2)What is the command to configure shared memory and L1 out of total 64K? and where to locate that command? Friends, requesting to respond to my queries.
