Ontouchevent is not working and I can't figure out why,there are no exceptions or errors and am pretty sure my code is correct ,however when I touch the screen there is no response.

Basically the code below is supposed to set an image as the canvas and allows you to paint/draw on it,I'm done setting the image as the background how ever it wont do the second part.

Your code is pretty sure perfect but You didnt display SignatureView anywhere.

SignatureView sign=new SignatureView(this,null);
sign.invalidate();

You just init that view & invalidate.

Need to add in main layout . or setContentView(sign);

Try this:

 SignatureView sign=new SignatureView(this,null);
sign=(SignatureView) findViewById(R.id.image_view);
 sign.setImageBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeFile(a));
sign.invalidate();

Should work. Basically you are not assigning the Signature View to the ImageView(R.id.image_view). Using the default ImageView instead.

could you post the stack trace? I want to have a look at the stack trace. I worked with the custom views. It should work. –  mipreamble Nov 1 '12 at 14:10
