So I have 2 UITextfields inside of a UIView (addressFormView) which is itself embedded in another UIView. I created the text fields via IB and they seem to work fine when the view is initially loaded.

Once the user has completed entering text and clicks a submit button, I make an asynchronous request and temporarily overlay another UIView on top of the parent UIView (see attached image).

After the request has been completed I remove the loading view and display a UIAlertView if there are any errors in the form.

The problem is that once the user dismisses the alert the textfields are not responding to touches as I would expect them to...

I checked for userInteractionEnabled and enabled for both textfields and the parent views and they are returning true both before and after the request.

I am implementing the textfield delegate and verifying if the delegate methods are getting called and only one of them textFieldShouldBeginEditing is getting called after the request, while they were all being properly called before.

I am providing some of the code to try and keep it concise, but I can provide anything else if needed.

PLEASE HELP!!!! my life is crumbling to pieces.

EDIT: I actually figured out the problem. Renaming firstResponder to something else actually solved the issue!!!

Don't you forget to give delegate to self for those UITextFields? –  Hemang Nov 5 '12 at 5:22
