I have a xaml code as follows: On MouseLeftButtonDown i redirect it to viewModel where the color GenerateGlowEffect must change. This is not reflected. It always returns null for this.PropertyChanged XAML:

if this.PropertyChanged is null it means that your XAML is not bound against the property, so something must be wrong with your binding in XAML. It is probably the DataContext of the Rectangle that is not set to your ViewModel instance. We can't tell unless you post the full code. –  bitbonk Nov 14 '12 at 6:49
    
Which part of code is needed? Entire XAML or the code behind? –  Eve Nov 14 '12 at 6:54
    
At least all parents of your <Rectangle> in XAML. And the place in c# where you set the DataContext to your ViewModel instance. –  bitbonk Nov 14 '12 at 7:09

If this.PropertyChanged is null it means that your XAML is not bound against the property. You need to set the DataContext otherwise the WPF engine doesn't know what to bind against.
