I am trying to stream my webcam over IP from one PC to another. This is all through the command line. First I try:

# gst-launch v4l2src ! xvimagesink

Which works fine and starts the webcam and gives shows the picture/video. Then I try to stream the webcam over udp to another PC.

gst-launch v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! 'video/x-raw-yuv,width=320,height=240' !  x264enc pass=qual quantizer=20 tune=zerolatency ! rtph264pay ! udpsink host= port=1234 sync=false

On the destination PC I start this:

gst-launch -v udpsrc port=1234 ! fakesink dump=1

So it seems to me that it is working streaming the image. Now, I try to display it on the screen. I display the stream with this:

gst-launch -v udpsrc port=1234 ! application/x-rtp,clockrate=90000,payload=96 ! rtph264depay queue-delay=0 ! ffdec_h264 ! xvimagesink

But it don't display the webcam; instead in the shell I get:

I don't know what I am doing wrong. All of this is on CentOS 6.3 where I installed GStreamer 10.29 with all the plugins (base, good, bad, ugly) and gstreamer-ffmpeg, both from the repository http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/release/linuxtech.repo .

i tried your pipeline (with videotestsrc) and it works "kind-of" ok (that is, i get dropouts, but can see an image). probably you should try setting the caps of what comes out of udspsrc to exactly the same caps that go into udpsink - use gst-launch -v to get the full caps in the producer) –  umläute Nov 19 '12 at 18:53
