i have my database copied from asset to device but it can't read the data from database here the code

when i use createDatabase() database copied to system but whenever i try to open the database it's always force close java.lang.nullpointerexception. please help

Please consider using SQLiteAssetHelper instead of your current code for packaging a database as an asset within your app: github.com/jgilfelt/android-sqlite-asset-helper – CommonsWare Nov 16 '12 at 12:39

You did not initialize the variable db before using it in the line..

db = db.openDatabase("data/data/ta.ex/databases/ensiklopedia.sqlite", null, db.OPEN_READONLY);

you can do it using:

db = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase("data/data/ta.ex/databases/ensiklopedia.sqlite", null, db.OPEN_READONLY);

or using your function openDataBase:

public SQLiteDatabase openDataBase(){
        //Open the database
        String myPath = DB_PATH + DB_NAME;
        sqldb = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(myPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READWRITE);
        return sqldb;

in the activity:

db = mydb.openDataBase();

I found the issue,

 db = db.openDatabase("data/data/ta.ex/databases/ensiklopedia.sqlite", null, db.OPEN_READONLY);

remove above line and use following


Create function in mydatabase.java wich return cursor. you have db object in mydatabase.java class
