My activity works fine using thread but when there is 10 or more images to fetch from web server database, it takes lot of time. From googling, I have seen that asynctask is a better option, but I am not able to implement it. Here is my thread class

nothing is displayed when that asynctask method is used,but the first one,using thread,works fine but very slow in fetching –  ess.crazy Nov 28 '12 at 7:31

You just need to move the GetSearchResults(); to doInBackGround and the ui part to onPostExecute..

For example:

    GetSearchResults();
}

protected void onPostExecute(final String result) {
     lv1 = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.listV_main);
                 adb=new ItemListBaseAdapter(Ongoing.this, results);
                 lv1.setAdapter(adb);

First of all Make a inner class which extends AsyncTask as i have made below -> DownloadWebPageTask

1) doInBackground() will be called to do operation in background

2) onPostExecute() will be called to write data on user interface thread
