I have a tournament branch predictor simulation as an assignment. This program simulates the tournament branch predictor in the microprocessors. I guess I did everything right. I cannot trace the problem. I am stuck in segmentation fault.

Have you tried using debugging tools such as gdb or valgrind to find the source of the problem? –  Delan Azabani Nov 29 '12 at 4:32

You have seq_in as

char * seq_in;

To be used later in a fgets call. Your variable must have its memory allocated properly or you program will raise a segmentation fault. You can solve this issue:

char seq_in[200];  /* or the size you want */

Or

char * seq_in = malloc (200, sizeof(char));  /* or the size you want */

Same issue happens with your fout variable.

Thanks, That is solved, but do you see any anomaly in the return statements I have, because the program is exiting somewhere. Do I have to increment any counter to next line because I am getting only one line in output file? I have taken \n n '\0' character in the array, is that wrong? –  Shreyas Kale Nov 29 '12 at 5:09
