Im trying to implement my negative/positive button so if someone wants to input a negative number they can but my code has a run time error.

it seems to be stuck in enterState6()

i cant seem to get it to break out of state 6 to continue the calculations will i need a loop of some sort?

What do you mean stuck? Is there a stack trace? –  jco.owens Nov 30 '12 at 4:28

The switch statement in your actionPerformed method has these cases:

        case 0:
        case 1:
        case 2:
        case 3:
        case 4: 
        case 5:

In particular, it does not have a case 6:. As a result, once state becomes 6, nothing further can ever happen.

are any of my other case statements not correct im getting wiered results when i do something that's 3 steps like 4 * 4 = 16 * 4 then is resets to 0 im confused im assuming its something to do with my case 4 and 5 and states 4 and 5 –  user1865164 Dec 1 '12 at 2:17

so ive been going at this for hours now and i cant seem to figure out why when i multiply or divide two numbers i get the answer correct but as soon as i go to multiply or divide a 3rd number its resets to 0.0 but my addition and subtraction works. is why im so confused –  user1865164 Dec 2 '12 at 20:58
