Two clients are able to connect to the server but it is only accepting and displaying input stream messages for the first client and not for the second, though the other client is also connected.

Following is the code where i am accepting the stream, i have tried closing the socket each tie but it is not working out.

From the code you've posted, your accept call is in your server setup, so while you don't show where setup_server is being called, I can only assume that you're calling accept one time? If so, that's your problem. accept() is what gets the client connection for processing. If you're only calling it once, you'll only process one client connection. –  spdaley Nov 30 '12 at 16:34

UDP is ok, you can just recvfrom() like you're doing already.

TCP is different, but you're almost there: you need a call to accept() for every connection you wish to handle, ie you shold select() the server socket in the loop, call accept() on it as necessary to get a new socket, deal with it and close() it at the end.

On the client's side it looks like you connected because you're in the server's queue of pending connections -- see the listen(2) manpage.

I have tried but this time it is not able to bind the socket even after i closed it. For your reference i have also included the client side code, please advise where exactly i ma going wrong. –  code_2_peep Nov 30 '12 at 21:35
    
You should not be closing the server socket or rebinding it; just call accept() again on the same server socket. –  mark4o Nov 30 '12 at 21:42
    
You are suppose to close the socket handle that accept() returns. Don't close the server socket handle until you are ready to stop accepting client connections. –  Remy Lebeau Nov 30 '12 at 23:30
