I am having issues getting my jfreechart to update as i add more data - i am trying to update a line graph every 5 seconds and for it to draw the line between points. The issue i face is the adding of the keys - you cannot add a key with the same value so i am unsure how i can update the graph with new data?

Please could someone suggest where i might be going wrong

you mean, you want to update your graph in every 5 seconds ?? –  jWeaver Dec 21 '12 at 8:53
    
yes - eventually it will be every 5 mins but for now 5 seconds for testing –  Biscuit128 Dec 21 '12 at 8:55
    
I am rebuilding the series to update, i.e. I removeAllSeries() and then recreate the dataset. However, I do not do that every 5 seconds. –  Stefan Dec 21 '12 at 9:09

Use updater.start(); at the end of main method. and use following code

AFAIK, you should not do update your whole chart, but you should do something by which, you can only updated your value. you can find more help stackoverflow.com/questions/1304404/… and stackoverflow.com/questions/1389285/real-time-graphing-in-java –  jWeaver Dec 21 '12 at 9:43

I managed to fix this myself by adding the following lines to the constructor only once

//dataset.addSeries(series1);
        dataset.addSeries(series2);
        dataset.addSeries(series3);
        dataset.addSeries(series4);
        dataset.addSeries(series5);
        dataset.addSeries(series6);
        dataset.addSeries(series7);
        dataset.addSeries(series8);
        dataset.addSeries(series9);
        dataset.addSeries(series10);

and then updating it as per the code in the original post.
