I'm trying to send At commands to my mobile phone (Nokia 5130)

The phone is connected via a usb port (used in modem mode), so after I installed the driver I get it listed as a COM port on device manager (Nokia 5130 XPressMusic USB Serial Port (COM17))

Here is the code :

Can anybody tell me why WriteFile doesn't write anything to the serial port ?

Is it because the com port is not a real com port (usb to com) ?
(NB : If I don't specify the timeout WriteFile just hangs)

Since this is not an answer, it has to be a comment. But have you tried connecting to that serial port with a terminal program (TeraTerm is one of the better - google it)? If you are not able to connect via TeraTerm, then you won't be with your code either. If you are, then you know your code is broken. – Mats Petersson Dec 22 '12 at 12:43

You may also want to check your flow-control settings in the portConfig - I'm not sure what their values are when you get the state, but turning off DTR, DSR, RTS and such would perhaps improve things. I know for sure Windows can talk serial to Nokia mobiles of that general type, as I spent about 4 months this year doing exactly that (using Python, but I'm pretty sure that's irrellevant) – Mats Petersson Dec 22 '12 at 12:47
    
Hi Mat, i'am able to connect via hyper terminal and send messages using it, i also tryed what you said portConfig.fDtrControl = FALSE; portConfig.fDsrSensitivity = FALSE; portConfig.fRtsControl = FALSE; but no difference – you Dec 22 '12 at 13:04
    
Ok, so that means your wire is working, your phone isn't broken, and thus the problem is in code code. Try checking the flow control - for now, turn everything flow controlly off, and see where that gets you - that may lead to problems if you try to send a lot of data very quickly, but for "I want to send this AT command", it should be fine. – Mats Petersson Dec 22 '12 at 13:05

ok i solved this by changing the com port number even if COM17 is what is shown at device manager it was not the right port this has nothing to do with port configuration (default values work) that's it ! thanks everyone.
