I've got pretty intersting problem with SQLite when I try to fetchAll my table. Sorry for my English...I try to explain the problem. I am beginner in Android developing...

So! I like cars, I want develop an app where i can save my favourite and bought cars. First I create my DB and my car table. I've got a schema class with the a create method:

I call this method when I open my DB. I created DbHelper class and in this class is the open method:

    public void open() {
    dbHelper = new DbHelper(context, DbSchema.DATABASE_NAME);
    mDb = dbHelper.getWritableDatabase();
    dbHelper.onCreate(mDb);
}

When I start my mainActivity I open my DB, make a Cursor object width my fetchAll() method. fetchAll method look like this:

...and when the fetchAll method try to ask items from DB i got the following message:

android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such column: color: , while compiling: SELECT _id, type, engine, fuel_type, color, age_group, speedometer_position, is_default, description, buying_price, bought_from FROM car ORDER BY brand;

I tried a lot of things...only one way what I found and works good: i use only 4 columns...but i am affraid...it is not acceptable

Have anybody an idea?

What are the values of your static variables, mainly KEY_COLOR? –  Sam Dec 24 '12 at 0:28

Sam! As I wrote...I am beginner in Adroid developing. I read a book where the writer recommended that use this way. I think it is not so bad...unfortunately I make misspell lot of time. If I use this syntax it is easy to correct tham :) –  aBanhidy Dec 24 '12 at 8:47
    
@aBanhidy You should use static variables like KEY_COLOR, it is a very wise choice to use these. :) I was asking what their values were to be certain that KEY_COLOR = "color". But we found the problem was something else. Good luck! –  Sam Dec 24 '12 at 19:55

There is no need to call dbHelper.onCreate(mDb); in open(). SQLiteOpenHelper handles the creation, upgrades, etc for your depending on the DATABASE_VERSION in DBHelper's constructor.

Anyway I'm guessing that you added the color column after running your database at least once. However SQLiteOpenHelper won't check CREATE_TABLE automatically, you must tell SQLiteOpenHelper about the change.

The easiest way to do this is to implement onUpgrade() in DBHelper and add one to DATABASE_VERSION.
